This morning just after 8am, Wild Oats won the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. I watched it come up river and was at the finish line.
Coming up the Derwent River accompanied by a large floatilla of spectator craft

The top photo is one that i took in 2003 while crossing the Nullabor Plain (translated from the Latin meaning treeless) , a vast treeless and arid desert. I included it for comparison with the next photo
The next photo is one that i took yesterday on the top of Mount Wellington showing the desolation of the top of the Mountain. Its anything but a desert but is instead blasted by the jet stream of strong winds snd harsh weather.
